Ladeboxen fuer zuhause

The practical thing about an electric car is that you can charge it at home without having to drive to a public charging station. For home charging you need a so-called charging box. But which charging station is suitable for which electric car? Find out in the blog.

The wallbox

If you want to charge your electric car at the household socket, the charging speed is throttled for safety reasons, because your socket is not designed for such high power. In addition, charging takes much longer than with a wallbox, therefore installing this last one is a great idea. If you want to have one installed, then the supply line must first be checked, because this allows the wallbox to charge at the maximum speed.

The wallbox also offers other functions such as access management, load management and even billing for the electricity is possible.

How does the charging itself work?

In Switzerland, the type 2 plug is generally used for charging. Once you have connected your electric car to the wallbox, the system recognizes the power it is designed for. In a next step your electric car will be charged. In order not to exceed the maximum of the charging cable, the charger reduces the power if necessary. In a first step, the car draws a constant and as high as possible power. When, at a certain level of filling, the voltage of the battery reaches its maximum value, the second step begins. For the rest of the charge, the voltage is kept constant and the power is continuously reduced until there are no current flows at all, becauseright then the battery of your electric car is full and the charging process is completed.
