Hot summer days call for cold drinks – even while you're driving! In this blog, you'll find out how to cool your favourite drinks to the perfect temperature in your car.

A quick spoiler upfront: not every model comes with this feature. But it’s worth checking the manual or taking a look inside the glovebox. Here's how it works:

How the trick works!

Open your car's glovebox and look for a dial or lever on the right-hand side. If your car has a cooling glovebox, there will be a small snowflake symbol in that area. Press or turn the knob to connect the glovebox to the air conditioning system.

Important: If the air conditioning is turned off, the cooling function in the glovebox will also stop.

How cold does it get in the glovebox?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t get cold enough for frozen items like ice cream 🍦! Typically, the glovebox reaches about 8–14 °C when the AC is set to maximum. It’s not actively cooled like a fridge, which would go down to around 4 °C.

Still, that’s cool enough to keep drinks slightly chilled, prevent chocolate from melting, or store heat-sensitive medication during the summer.

No cooling function? Go old-school!

If your car doesn't have this feature, no worries. There are plenty of ways to keep your drinks cool anyway. For example, plug in a mini cooler via the cigarette lighter and power it through your car battery.
